The God Who Speaks - Apl. 2006

Thanks for tuning in... today I wanted to briefly tell you about something my wife heard from the Lord earlier this year. Apparently she felt that Jesus wanted for us to watch for a dot-to-dot kind of phenomenon... a stringing together of events and people which would assure us that we are walking the path He's set for us. With this in mind, I kept my eyes open. Here is a neat example:

In January, I made my first trip to Thailand where I met Steve and Russ from Partners in Chiang Mai. The connection seemed very significant and we've committed to further relationship. Then just a few weeks ago, I was in Landsberg, Germany. The pastor of the Vineyard Church picked me up from the airport and said with some surprise, "I know you. We met in Drayton Valley, Alberta four years ago. I met you there and told you that you should come to Germany." We proceeded to his church where I was assigned a translator. This man noticed my Partners t-shirt and said, "You know Steve, don't you?" I said, "I just met him. How do you know him?" To which the translator replied, "I lived in Chiang Mai for two years. Steve is a good friend of mine." Small world. So yesterday, I was telling Gary (a pastor in Langley, BC) about this series of meetings, to which he replied, "Well first, Russ [in Chiang Mai] used to be in my youth group. And second, I've ministered with Ryan from Drayton Valley [who is now in Red Deer]. And third, Ryan and I will be standing in the same square that you were in at Landsberg, Germany, along with the same Vineyard pastor, in just a few weeks."

Ridiculous.

So what's that about? The picture I get is that the Lord has my life like a string and is enjoying putting a series of related beads on it. Some sort of dot-to-dot picture of relationships. I'm not quite sure. Sometimes it's a lot simpler than that: I sense that I'm to go see Andy at the home where he works, but when I arrive, he's not there... yet Ryan and Chris are standing outside stranded... sort of waiting for a ride home from no one in particular. I take this as a hint. At times like this, I feel the flow of God and try to stay in it for as long as possible.

So here is today's listening prayer question: "Lord, would you show me what people and events you are stringing together in my life? How have you already been doing that? Open my eyes so that I might flow with you."

blessings to you today,

Brad Jersak

p.p.s. for those who are wondering, we're finalizing the cover of "Kissing the Leper" this week. In the end, the foreword was written by my good friend, Andy MacPherson. Have you heard of him? Too bad... he's a great guy! ;-).
