The God Who Speaks - Nov. 1 / 05

With many apologies, I finally come back to the land of blog newslettering. Since my last newsletter, I had the privilege of visiting the grand nation of China. Absolutely amazing! On the other hand, I came back to find that the computer drive that kept my entire mailing list had been wiped out. Ouch. So I'm hoping that those who were on the mailing list or those who'd like to join in will graciously check in here occasionally.

For today's newsletter, I'd like to share briefly what the Lord spoke this morning re: prayer. He said,
"Ask big. And ask like you belong." I think that the Lord actually likes to bless... we don't even need to get into the "faith debates" about that. It's just that by nature, God is a blesser. I pray that He would bless you today in every way. Imagine that you really do belong at the throne of grace, seeking His face and His help as a real son or daughter.

On another note, I was blown away by the words of Frank Laubach in a journal entry to his dad, dated 1932:
"It is my business to look into the very face of God until I ache with bliss." (from "Practicing His Presence")... now there's a thought.

And then along those lines, D., one of my intercessors gave me a prayer to pray which I find needful:
"Lord Jesus, I give you my eyes." That's poignant on so many levels, but perhaps that could be our collective exercise today. We could ask what it means to give Him our eyes as an offering today.

Many blessings,

Brad Jersak

p.s. Can I recommend two new books that Fresh Wind Press has just published?
If this were a dream, what would it mean? by Murray Dueck; and The Beatitudes: When Mountain Meets Valley by Ron Dart. These are "must read" books in my own library. You can order them at www.freshwindpress.com.
