The God Who Speaks - April 13, 2005
Welcome again to The God Who Speaks newsletter!
To newcomers, good to have you!
The Lord showed us something this past weekend that is blowing our minds! He showed my good friend, Matt Borck, a picture of Christopher Columbus discovering the Americas. Historical injustices aside, the point was that the church is on the verge of discovering territories of God's kingdom that could rival the discovery of a new continent... the size and impact of such adventures could be world-changing in ways that eclipse Columbus' news of a new world. God's Kingdom: talk about a new world!
What so thrilled me about this is that the message seemed intimately connected with the rediscovery of listening prayer and the idea of the Meeting Place. There is a buzz across the globe right now about the outpouring of God's voice and this crazy notion of "the secret place," "the meeting place," "the resting place," "the hiding place," etc. It's one and the same. It reminds me of C.S. Lewis' exhortation, "further up and further in."
Today in prayer, I'd like us all to ask the Lord to show us what "further up and further in" looks like. I think He'll tailor-make answers for each of us. If we're about to come ashore into an undiscovered land, let's welcome others. Why not ask your family and friends to check with God about this question:
"Lord, what territory are you about to lead me to discover? How might I go further up and further into the kingdom of God? What does your "kingdom come... on earth" look like today?
Thanks for checking in everyone. If others come to mind who should join this community of listeners, please send them to www.bradjersak.com to sign in. Perhaps there's a listening prayer seminar you could bring them to. The website has an updated list of spots where we'll be.
Also, your prayers for our family (Eden, Stephen, Justice, and Dominic) are always welcome. Bless you!
